Dr. Sandra Efu, President and CEO
Dr. Sandra Efu is beginning her first term as President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadore College. She brings a clear and well-aligned vision, informed by a distinguished record of post-secondary leadership and a strong commitment to advancing student success, strengthening community prosperity, enhancing Indigenous partnerships, and expanding applied learning and research.
Dr. Efu joins Canadore following her tenure as Interim President and CEO of Keyano College, where she successfully led the institution through a period of uncertainty and significant organizational change. During this time, she advanced several key initiatives, including the establishment of an Indigenous Student Centre and the development of a new Health Learning Centre. These initiatives demonstrate her ability to deliver results, foster collaboration, and provide stable, effective leadership.
A committed advocate for Indigenous learners, Dr. Efu has led successful efforts to secure funding for Indigenous-focused programs, strengthen strategic partnerships, and expand training opportunities in collaboration with Indigenous organizations. Her leadership aligns closely with Canadore’s commitment to reconciliation, equity, and inclusion.
Dr. Efu holds a PhD in Higher Education: Research, Evaluation, and Enhancement from Lancaster University, a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Her academic background and professional expertise position her well to guide Canadore through its next phase of growth and innovation.
Dr. Efu’s vision for Canadore emphasizes student and employee success, strong community and industry partnerships, Indigenous empowerment, innovation, and regional economic development. She recognizes significant opportunities to build on the College’s strengths in applied learning, deepen industry collaboration, and leverage emerging technologies to expand access to education and support workforce development. Her experience working in a northern context provides valuable insight into Canadore’s role, responsibilities, and opportunities within the region.
