Sachindeep Singh has always been passionate about learning and helping others reach their potential. As a student in Canadore College’s Behavioural Science Technician program, he discovered how applied research could bridge the gap between education, psychology, and real-world impact.

Before joining Canadore, Sachindeep earned a Diploma in Elementary Education and spent several years teaching young learners in India. “As a teacher, I enjoyed creating lessons that made learning engaging and accessible,” he says. “That experience helped me understand the value of curiosity, patience, and innovation in education.”

He later worked as an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) trainer, helping students strengthen their English communication skills and achieve their study abroad goals. His growing curiosity about human behavior and learning led him to Canadore, where the Behavioural Science Technician program offered the perfect blend of theory, practice, and compassion. “The program helped me learn how to assess and change behavior through evidence-based techniques,” he explains. “It showed me how psychology and applied research can work together to improve people’s lives.”

At the Research Centre, Sachindeep had the opportunity to explore how research can be used to solve real-world problems. “Working on projects with the Research Centre helped me understand how data and collaboration lead to meaningful outcomes,” he shares. “I learned about research design, data collection, and analysis, and how applied research can improve education and community programs.”

He found the experience of working in an interdisciplinary environment deeply rewarding. “Collaborating with professionals from different backgrounds taught me how diverse perspectives can strengthen a project,” he says. “It made me realize that research is not just about theory but about making practical, positive change.”

Now a graduate of Canadore College, Sachindeep is successfully working in his field, applying the same skills he developed as a student researcher. “Through my work at the Research Centre, I learned how to communicate clearly, think critically, and approach challenges with curiosity,” he reflects. “Those lessons continue to guide me in my professional journey.”

For future student researchers, Sachindeep’s advice is simple but powerful. “Be curious and open-minded. Do not hesitate to ask questions or try new things,” he says. “Even if research feels new, it will give you skills that stay with you throughout your career.”

He also encourages students from all disciplines to explore research opportunities. “Research is not only for scientists or academics,” he emphasizes. “It is for anyone who wants to make informed decisions and improve the world around them. No matter what field you are in, research helps you grow both personally and professionally.”

Sachindeep’s journey from educator to researcher and now to working professional is a proud reflection of Canadore’s commitment to applied learning. His time at the Research Centre helped him discover how curiosity, compassion, and evidence can come together to make a difference in people’s lives.
