Canadore-Supported Software
The following is an alphabetized list and description of the EdTech software/platforms Canadore supports to create content, deliver activities and assessments, and provide instruction at the College.
Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) is a set of twenty plus desktop and mobile apps used to design and edit photos, video, graphics, print, and web content. Adobe CC apps include, but are not limited to, Photoshop, Illustrator, PremierPro, and InDesign.

Support
Akindi is a web-based assessment tool that automates the creation and grading of multiple- choice assessments for in-person or online testing. Created questions, along with answers to them, can be scrambled to increase academic integrity. Reports can be generated to convey which questions were the simplest or most challenging to complete, grade distribution, and more. Results can be exported directly to a course gradebook in iLearn.

Support
Copyleaks is a text-similarity, paraphrasing, and AI detection tool that allows instructors to assess submitted work.
Use
- Compare student submissions against other sources in order to identify similar or identical/paraphrased, and AI-generated text.

- Directly through the iLearn Assignments tool, or the Copyleaks Teacher Scan Tool.
Support
Creator+ is a new set of tools available in iLearn environment. Creator+ makes it easier to build interactive, visually rich, and accessible course content.
Use
- Insert Elements such as accordions, tabs, flip cards, hotspots, and timelines to organize and highlight content.
- Build interactive Practices like quizzes, sorting activities, and fill in the blanks to reinforce learning.
- Use Layouts to arrange text and media in visually appealing ways.
- Record and integrate media using Capture.

Support
H5P is an open-source content creation platform that can be used to create over forty different types of interactive instructional content. H5P is embedded in iLearn as an option when creating iLearn HTML pages!
The platform is user friendly with no need to know how to code to create content. Please note that embedded H5P content in iLearn cannot be connected or linked to a course Gradebook.

Support
iLearn (Brightspace by D2L) is Canadore’s learning management system (LMS) for all in-person, hybrid, and online courses. It is used to deliver essential resources and information to students, as well as to collect and assess student work, and provide feedback and grades.
iLearn serves as the primary portal for course learning resources and related activities. It also works seamlessly with D2L’s Pulse app to keep students informed of course deadlines, due dates and updates.

Kahoot! is a free game-based learning platform that allows you to support learning in an engaging game-based manner.

- Create Kahoots (online polls and quizzes) on any topic to assess student learning.

LockDown Browser is a tool embedded in iLearn for the purpose of locking the testing environment during an iLearn quiz/exam.

- For locking the online test environment. Best used in classroom-based or proctored environments.

Support
Office365 is a package of business and collaboration services from Microsoft. Services include email and task management, word processing, document sharing, and team collaboration. All College staff and students have access to Office365 via their Canadore network account/login. This means it can be used by faculty to contact, share, and meet synchronously with students.

Support
MS Teams is a web conferencing and team collaboration platform. It is part of the Microsoft Office365 suite. MS Teams is used to share documents and work collaboratively and synchronously (live or in real time) or asynchronously with students and colleagues.

Support
Third-Party Software
Third-party EdTech tools are platforms not owned or subscribed to by Canadore. Faculty are strongly encouraged to use College-supported technologies whenever possible. However, many external tools can enhance instruction, including those in the curated list below. If you choose to use third-party EdTech, follow these best practices:
- Adhere to College Protection of Privacy Policy and Accessibility Policy
- Use for formative assessment only
- Do not upload or share student personal information or academic records on external platforms
- Provide students a link to the third-party EdTech privacy policies
- Provide an alternative way for students to participate if they do not wish to use the tool
An interactive content-creation tool used to design presentations, infographics, interactive images, and learning activities.
Faculty can use Genially to create visually engaging instructional materials such as interactive lessons, quizzes, and gamified learning experiences.

A live polling and audience engagement tool that allows instructors to collect real-time responses from students using questions, polls, word clouds, quizzes, and ranking activities.
It is often used during lectures or presentations to increase participation and quickly assess understanding.

Padlet is commonly used for brainstorming, discussion boards, resource sharing, and collaborative class activities.

An audience response system that allows instructors to create live polls, quizzes, and open-ended questions that students answer using their devices.
Responses are displayed in real time, making it useful for formative assessment and increasing engagement during lectures.

What Should I Use?
Not sure which EdTech tool to use at Canadore? Select the instructional goal below that best aligns with what you are trying to accomplish.
Results include both College-owned/subscribed tools and third-party options. Whenever possible, faculty are strongly encouraged to use College-owned or officially supported tools to ensure compliance with College policies, privacy legislation, accessibility standards, and available technical support.
