  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention

    Non-violent crisis intervention training emphasizes early intervention and non-physical methods for preventing or managing disruptive behaviour.

  • safeTALK

    safeTALK is a three-hour training program that prepares helpers to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. Most people with thoughts of suicide, either directly or indirectly, invite help to stay safe. Alert helpers know how to identify and work with these opportunities to help protect life. Powerful videos illustrate both non-alert and alert responses. Discussion and practice stimulates learning.

  • Mental Health First Aid

    What is Mental Health First Aid? Similar to when first aid is administered in a medical situation (e.g., cut) Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. First aid is given until professional  treatment is received or until the crisis is resolved.

  • Beekeeping

    In Spring 2016, Parry Sound and Area Community Apiary was established on the campus that will used for Canadore beekeeping-related programming, as well as serve as an educational resource for primary and secondary school teachers, the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve, the Horticultural Society and other groups. The apiary is possible because of funding received by TD Friends of the Environment and Crofter’s Organic.

  • Mason Bees and Monarch Butterflies

    Learn about pollinators, mason bees, monarch butterflies and more. All participants will receive a Beehut Kit (includes mason bees and their nest) and milkweed seeds to take home!

  • Introduction to Beekeeping - Basic

    In this one day workshop participants will learn the importance and benefit of honeybees, basic honey bee biology, getting started in beekeeping (equipment, beekeeper responsibilities), pests and diseases, and harvesting and extracting honey. All levels of experience welcome. A site visit to an active beehive will be dependent on availability and weather.

  • Intermediate Beekeeping

    In this one day workshop participants will go into greater detail about bee biology, swarm control, honey production, pest and disease management (e.g., monitoring and treatment). A site visit to an active beehive will be dependent on availability and weather.

  • MED Small Domestic Vessel Safety (MED– SDVS)

    This is a Transport Canada Approved training course designed to provide seafarers with a basic understanding of the hazards associated with the marine environment and with their own vessel.
    NEW: Candidates are NOT REQUIRED to obtain their CDN number from Transport Canada for this training course.

    Note: This course replaces MED-A3
    Date: March 27th, 2017
    Cost: $255, plus HST
    Time: 8:30 to 5:00 pm

  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)

    Participants will gain a basic understanding of the hazards associated with the marine environment and their own vessel along with the prevention of shipboard incidents.

    Date: March 28 to 31st, 2017
    Cost: $610, plus HST
    Time: 8:30 to 4:00 pm
