The Culinary industry is growing and there is a shortage of professionally-trained cooks and chefs.

Location: Canadore College, College Drive Campus
Program Length: 27 weeks
Dates:  August 2019– February 2020
Includes: uniforms, textbooks, knife kit

What you will learn:

  • Baking and advanced pastry arts
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Food, beverage and kitchen management
  • Food preparation and culinary skills
  • Math - academic upgrading
  • Restaurant food production
  • Secondary trade exposure - baking (423A)
  • Smart Serve, WHIMIS, and Food Safety Training
  • Wines
  • Work placement (8 weeks)

Future Opportunities

Upon completion of this program, students may pursue:

  • Employment in a variety of restaurants and cooking environments as Chef de Partie, First Cook, Sous Chef, and Chef de Cuisine
  • Additional training toward a Culinary Skills - Chef Certificate or a Culinary Management Diploma

Who Can Apply?
This pre-apprenticeship program (Trade 415A) is geared specifically to individuals with a minimum grade 12 or equivalent. Anyone with an interest in the culinary industry can apply.
