Backyard Chicken Keeping

Overview

Keeping chickens is both practical and rewarding, connecting us to food, routine, and the rhythms of daily care. This welcoming, hands-on workshop introduces the essentials of raising backyard chickens. Together, we will explore common breeds, feeding practices, coop considerations, basic health awareness, and the realities of protecting a flock from predators. The session emphasizes practical knowledge, shared questions, and the kinds of small insights that only come through experience. Participants will also learn how to safely and calmly handle a chicken and observe a simple health check, supported by a live bantam chicken. This workshop is ideal for beginners, aspiring chicken keepers, and anyone curious about bringing a small flock into their lives.
