Meet the Team

2025-2026 Team

Sruti Panicker, President

They told me to describe myself, I said I yap. In fact, I never stop talking. If talking were an Olympic sport, I’d have at least three gold medals and a sponsorship deal. I think that’s what has helped me connect with students—because when you talk a lot, people eventually start talking back because they think that is the only way to shut me up! As VP Student life I gained some experience, and I plan to use that experience to be an even better President. So, I guess Princess Leia gets to keep her Rebel Alliance for one more year. Just with slightly more meetings and maybe slightly less stormtroopers? Here’s to hoping deadlines don’t get me and coffee keeps fuelling me.

Madison Sutherland, Vice President of Operations

Hello, my name is Madison Sutherland, but you can also call me Maddy. A few things to know about me is that I am in the Business program. I am an Indigenous artist who uses many different art mediums. I have an orange cat named Sumo. My favourite subjects to talk about are astronomy and oceanology.

Reece Sommerfeld, Vice President of Student Life

My name's Reece and I am currently a first-year student in the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at Canadore College. I have been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to continue my love for volleyball on the court for the Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team. When I’m not on the court you can find me working out in the fitness center, studying in the library, walking around the school with my friends, or in the gymnasium working.
As Vice President of student life, I am looking forward to helping plan an array of activities for the student body as well as providing a welcoming environment for everybody. I believe in the power of community and collaboration, and I will strive to represent the diverse voices and needs of all students. I am committed to making Canadore College a place where every student feels supported and valued.
Feel free to reach out with any ideas, concerns, or questions about student life on campus!
