Open education aims to remove barriers to learning by making education affordable, accessible, and effective to today’s diverse learners and learning environments. Open educational practices include the use of open educational resources such as textbooks, journals, and multimedia.
Open Educational Resources
Open Educational Resources (OER) are educational materials that are free to access, use, adapt, and share. OER are usually made available to the public under an open licensing system such as Creative Commons (CC).
Faculty Guidance and Support
The Canadore College Harris Learning Library has database collections that can be searched for open access ebooks and journals. As well, the Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE) can assist with sourcing high quality, copyright friendly open educational resources.
