“Pow Wow is a good way to display our cultural practices and celebrate our pride,” said Gerald McComb, Cultural Advisor with Canadore College’s First Peoples’ Centre. “It is a good place to gather and spend time with your friends and loved ones. It's important to maintain social connections especially during the pandemic when gatherings are difficult.”
That is why the First Peoples’ Centre and the Aboriginal Student Association will co-host a virtual Pow Wow again this year.
Organizers put a call out in late January for dancers and singers to record and submit videos. The videos will be included in a production that will be streamed on the Canadore Aboriginal Student Association Facebook page on Saturday, February 19, 2022, beginning at noon.
“Come join us online for the 32nd Annual Canadore Pow Wow,” said McComb. “Enjoy songs and dance from local talent as well as guests from other communities.”
