Student Orientation & Welcome Events - Winter 2026

What is Welcome HOME?

  • At Canadore, students come from across Canada and around the world to pursue their education—and while you're here, we want you to feel at home. Welcome Home is more than just an orientation, it's your gateway to the Canadore community through a mix of virtual and in-person sessions, you’ll have the chance to explore the supports and services available to you, connect with fellow students, and start building your own personalized orientation experience.

Check back here often for updates and upcoming activities designed to help you settle in, feel supported, and make meaningful connections before classes even begin. Welcome to your home away from home. Welcome to Canadore.

What is your absolute favorite thing about being a Canadore student?

Being a Canadore Student for me means putting theory to hands-on learning. Through multiple placement experiences and working in our Human and Social Science Counselling lab, both opportunities have given me the skills I need to become a great helper.

If a new student has one free hour in North Bay, where should they go?

Twiggs on McKewon. Is it the perfect place to study or catch up with friends in between classes. It has great food and cozy vibes.

To you, what does it mean to "be a Panther"?

Being a panther is about being a part of a community of like-minded people who value connections and continued learning opportunities. Throughout my time at Canadore, I have met so many wonderful students, staff, faculty, and community agencies and had many opportunities that have shaped many parts of who I am and the helper I wish to become.

Tell us something surprising about yourself!

Something Interesting about me is that I am bilingual. I speak both English and French.

What is a quote or piece of advice that keeps you motivated during exam season?

What is your absolute favorite thing about being a Canadore student?

My favorite thing about being a Canadore student is how the college goes beyond just academic success. Canadore truly supports students in all aspects of their journey, socially, financially, professionally, and personally. Through a wide range of events and initiatives like workshops, connection drop-ins, success services, and fun game hours, the school creates an environment where students can grow, connect, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom. It also fosters a strong sense of belonging, making you feel like a valued member of the Panther squad.

If a new student has one free hour in North Bay, where should they go?

I’d recommend checking out the hiking trails around Canadore College Drive. It’s a fun and refreshing way to get some fresh air, relax, and take a break from your day. The trails are a great spot to clear your mind and enjoy nature, just make sure to go with someone who knows the area if it’s your first time.

To you, what does it mean to "be a Panther"

To me, being a Panther means being part of a supportive and welcoming community where everyone is encouraged to grow and succeed. It’s about showing pride in our school, getting involved, and supporting one another both inside and outside the classroom. Being a Panther also means embracing opportunities, building connections, and contributing to a positive and inclusive campus environment.

Tell us something surprising about yourself!

A fun fact about me is that I love dancing in my room and trying out new moves in my free time; it’s my favorite way to unwind and have fun.

What is a quote or piece of advice that keeps you motivated during exam season?

Study, pray, do your best, and trust yourself with the rest.
