Apr 18, 2019 | Canadore College
(NORTH BAY, ONT.) – This semester, social service worker students raised a total of $8,300 in cash and $6,900 in-kind donations for regional community agencies.
As a part of the Methods: Community Organization course, first-year students were tasked forming work groups and organizing a fundraising event to benefit a non-profit of their choosing.
Learners chose their agencies based on a combination of wanting to learn more about services, a desire to raise awareness about existing initiatives, to amplify the efforts of organizations, and connection to the organization through personal experience.
