Inside the CSC with Jolene - An Introduction
Jul 8, 2024 | Jolene Carter, CSC President
Hello Canadore!
My name’s Jolene and I’m your Student Council President and I’m starting these blog posts off with one that just lets you know who I am.
The basics are that I’m a twenty-six-year-old trans woman in the Social Service Worker program.
My hobbies include attending the Conversation Club to learn from our International Student community and to grow my cultural humility and awareness when I’m not reading or writing a good book.
The exciting details are who I am to you. I’m someone who’s here to support you.
I’ll be more specific:
- If you have questions, you can ask me and if I don’t know the answer I’ll find one for you.
- If you want somebody to listen actively to your concerns and feel confident they’re absorbing what you’ve told them, I’ll listen and take in account your concerns when making decisions.
- I’m always in the Welcome Centre if you need a kind ear for any concerns and especially if you are someone who needs a person who understands facing difficulties and cares about how you’re doing.
So in summary, I like reading, long walks on the beach and being a visible and friendly face for the trans community from the lens of my own points of view and experiences.
I campaigned on the promises of inclusivity and diversity and I mean them, I hope when we meet dear reader; you can see the sincerity of these promises.
Looking forward to meeting you.
Kind Regards,
Jolene Carter
CSC President 2024-2025
