Dr. Treva Reed, Faculty of Nursing
Dr. Treva Reed is a full-time faculty member in nursing who teaches in the Collaborative BScN program offered by Canadore and Nipissing University. Treva holds a BScN, MScN (major in administration, minor in philosophy), and a PhD in Health Administration. Her professional background has been in health care in both acute care and community care. Treva has been actively involved in the community, serving on various boards throughout the past several years, including Bernadette McCann House for Women, the United Way, and BAYSAR.
An experienced researcher, Treva has been involved in various collaborative research projects, investigating topics such as the quality of work life for nurses, the effects that equine therapy has on survivors of sexual abuse, the effect of biomechanical measures on the functional status of the frail elderly, and the impact that companion robots have on seniors. Treva encourages colleagues to take advantage of the services and support offered by the Research Office to pursue an area of interest. She notes that, Canadore’s Research Office facilitates “internal and external collaborations that provide a wonderful opportunity to network and share common interests.” Moreover, Treva encourages students to “ask questions that interest them; often these translate into some exciting work that can make a difference in outcomes.”
