Performances by Canadore’s Rep21 Next Week

Jul 6, 2017 | Canadore College

(NORTH BAY, ONT.) – Canadore College’s unique theatre company will be performing Barefoot on the Moon next week.

Written by Canadore theatre arts alumnus and instructor, Joshua Bainbridge, and directed by TVO Best Lecturer and Canadore professor, Rod Carley, Barefoot On The Moon explores the lifelong tension between American dreams and nightmares, telling the story of a small group of amateur filmmakers based in Sudbury, Ont., who are saddled with the dubious task of faking and filming the 1969 moon landing. It showcases the talents of the College’s 2017 acting for stage and screen program graduates and marks the culmination of their training for the past six semesters in acting technique, movement, voice, speech, dance, clowning, and stage combat.

This is the 12th performance season for Rep 21. For over a decade, the graduating classes from Canadore’s acting program have worked alongside industry-trained professional actors, directors and instructors to bring classical and contemporary productions to the North Bay stage.

North Bay theatrical performances will take place July 12 – 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Nipissing University Theatre at the Education Centre Campus. There will also be a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on July 15.

Monetary donations to The Gathering Place soup kitchen will be accepted at the door in lieu of ticket payment in North Bay, Ont.

The Rep 21 ensemble will also be performing in Toronto, Ont. at the Theatre Passe Muraille July 19 – 22 where donations to AFC (formerly The Actors' Fund of Canada) will be accepted at the door in lieu of admission price.

Canadore trains people through applied learning, leadership and innovation. It provides access to over 75 full-time quality programs and has outstanding faculty and student services. The College and its students add nearly $290 million to the regions of Nipissing and Parry Sound. Approximately 1,000 students graduate from Canadore each year, and they join 44,000 alumni working across the globe.
