When you are a student and looking for a job in the future after college, networking with others can help. Even just connecting with people in the profession that you are studying for can help a lot and they can give you some advice. That is where Ten Thousand Coffees comes in.
Ten Thousand Coffees is a platform where people can network with others. This website is used not only by businesses but by over 60 post-secondary schools as well. Canadore is one of them and has a login that allows you to interact with students, graduates, and alumni. The login process is surprisingly easy, and you can even connect your LinkedIn account to help with the process. There are a few questions to answer but those are to help for introductions and getting to know others. One of the questions does help so that you can pinpoint specific things you want to learn or you can offer to share with others. This is great if there are certain fields of study you are thinking of pursuing or if you want to learn more about a specific area. And even if you don’t want to get insight on something for the time being but later change your mind, you can go edit your preferences at any time. Based on what you put, it helps to indicate what exactly you are looking for and get you to network with the right people.
A great thing about the website is that every four weeks in the Canadore College hub, there will be a round of introductions and you get to meet a member. This allows you to meet and talk with others, ask any questions you have or get more insight on things. Plus since the hub is for students, graduates and alumni that means that you are talking to someone who went to Canadore College and those with experience in the work industry. It is a great way to get your name out there and hopefully make connections. For those who are looking for advice, looking to network or to maybe do apprenticeship/work, Ten Thousand Coffees can maybe help.
