What’s the difference between a program and a course?
A program is a group of courses that leads to an academic credential or document of recognition. You can also register for an individual course and start upgrading your skills today.
What are the delivery options?
Classroom: Traditional instructor-led classes at one of Canadore’s four campuses; indicated as Lecture/Lab
iLearn – D2L: Canadore’s web-based learning platform offers students a virtual, asynchronous classroom facilitated by college instructors; indicated as Internet Delivery
OntarioLearn: A collaborative, web-based learning platform with 24/7 technical support that hosts courses from 24 Ontario Colleges; indicated as OntarioLearn
Contact North: A real-time virtual classroom that allows students to learn live with instructors and peers or review content later from home; indicated as Contact North
What is a prerequisite?
A prerequisite is a course (or other qualification) required for entry into another course.
Note: It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all prerequisites are met before registering.
What are entry requirements?
Course entry requirements: learners must be 19 years of age or older or have earned an Ontario Secondary School Diploma/Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
Program entry requirements: each program varies in its entry requirements. Please visit individual programs to ensure you meet the entry requirements.
What are the registration deadlines?
The registration deadline for all online courses is 10 business days from the course start date. For all other delivery methods, the registration deadline is two weeks from the course start date.
Do you offer refunds?
Full refunds are provided if a course is cancelled by the college.
Partial refunds are provided if a student withdraws from a course prior to the refund deadline. A partial refund is a refund less an administrative fee.
What are the refund Deadlines?
All online courses – up to the last day to register for a course.
For semester long in-class courses – 4:00 p.m. one business day prior to the second scheduled class.
For weekend or evening workshops – 4:00 p.m. two business days prior to the course start date.
After the refund deadline, course fees are neither refundable nor transferable.
How can I request a refund?
Refund requests must be received in writing or by email to the Continuing Education office prior to the refund deadline. After the refund deadline, course fees are neither refundable nor transferable.
How can I request a withdrawal?
Prior to the last week, students can request to withdraw from a course. You will receive a final grade of “WD” (withdrawn) which will not affect your grade point average (GPA). Withdrawal request must be received in writing or by email to the Continuing Education office prior to the withdrawal deadline.
Can I register late?
It is recommended that you register at least one week before the course start date. This allows time for your registration to be processed and to order textbooks. Students who register after the course start date are responsible for catching up on any missed material. Refund and withdrawal deadlines are not extended due to late registration.
How can I access my grades?
Grades will take approximately three to five weeks to be processed after the course end date. You can view your grades online by following the steps:
- Go to Self Service
- User ID: Student # (found on the top of your welcome email and on your receipt)
- PIN: Date of birth (ddmmyy – 6 digits)
- Click – Student, Student Records, Final Grades
- Select a Term
- If your PIN has been deactivated, please contact the Service Desk at 705-474- 7600 ext. 5800 and ask to have your PIN reset.
How can I access my Transcript?
To request a transcript of all Canadore grades complete and submit the Transcript Request Form

Do you offer a discount for Seniors?
Those 55 and older are eligible for a 15% discount on the tuition fee portion on all continuing education courses.
How do I purchase the correct textbook for my course?
Note that textbooks for courses and programs in the Continuing Education department vary based on the course provider. If you have any questions regarding textbooks for your course or program, please contact the Continuing Education department.
