Medical Transcription Styles and Practices
14 weeks – Course
Overview
Learn concepts and standards of style and format of medical reports and basic grammar rules in medical documentation. Prepare for medical transcription by applying industry standards, as set by the American Association for Medical Transcription and presented in the AAMT Book of Style. The course introduces information not encountered outside of healthcare documentation. The CD ROM that accompanies the workbook includes clips of dictation that briefly introduce the student to dictation, and allow for practice in applying the standards.

You may enroll in a Continuing Education course at Canadore College if you are 19 years of age or older or if you have earned an Ontario Secondary School Diploma/Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.

Most college level courses require textbooks; textbooks are not included in the course fees. It is the student’s responsibility to purchase any required textbooks.
