As Ontario prepares for the upcoming provincial election, it’s more important than ever for students and young people to engage in the democratic process. Your voice matters, and participating in the election is a powerful way to shape the future.

Take time to learn about your local candidates, explore each party’s platform, and ask questions about issues that impact student life—such as affordability, post-secondary education funding, and employment opportunities. Ontario has four major political parties: the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party, the Ontario New Democratic Party, the Ontario Liberal Party, and the Ontario Green Party. Reviewing their policies will help you make an informed decision on election day.

While youth voter turnout in Canada has been steadily increasing—rising to 68.5% in the 2015 federal election—some young voters still feel disengaged, believing their vote won’t make a difference. However, every vote counts, and student participation can drive real change in our communities.

Be informed, get involved, and make your voice heard. For details on how to register and prepare for election day, visit www.elections.on.ca.
