On July 11, Canadore College and Ukraine’s National Aviation University (NAU) signed the MOU which focuses on the development and exploration of student pathways and exchanges, curriculum sharing and development, and applied research between the two institutions.

Canadore representatives included Richard Peters, Vice President of Finance and International, along with Martin Galvin, Dean of Aviation, Business and Liberal Studies and Wade Culliton, Manager of Aviation Operations, Quality and Development.

"Canadore is thrilled to partner with National Aviation University - a world class institution with a deep history in aerospace training and development. This partnership will allow for incredible opportunities for our students and showcases the College and our community on the world stage,” said Peters.

“We are also pleased to have crystallized our relationship on the historic occasion of ‎the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement signing by Prime Minister Trudeau.”

Vladimir Shehovtsov, Business Development Officer, City of North Bay, who was instrumental in the initial formation of the partnership, said it was impressive that Canadore was the first Canadian academic institution to sign a partnership agreement on the same day as the historic CUFTA.

“It is really extraordinary to see that in such a very brief period of time a strategic partnership agreement has been achieved. By teaming up with NAU, Canadore has firmly positioned itself as a college of choice for young Ukrainians looking to obtain top quality training in aviation and various other cutting-edge technology programs that it has to offer,” said Shehovtsov.

The National Aviation University, located in Kyiv, Ukraine, is a prominent aviation institution with 50,000 students including 1,200 international students from 49 countries.

The Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) was signed by both countries on July 11, 2016 in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Canadore trains people through applied learning, leadership and innovation. It provides access to over 65 full-time quality programs and has outstanding faculty and student services. The College and its students add nearly $290 million to the regions of Nipissing and Parry Sound. Approximately 1,000 students graduate from Canadore each year, and they join 43,000 alumni working across the globe.
