Pink Day Celebration
Feb 23, 2018 | Matthew Reid, 2nd Year Broadcasting: TV/Video Production Student
Canadore College will be hosting its very own on Pink Day Celebration on February 28th, 2018. Pink Day when two students, David Shepherd, Travis Price, witnessed a new Grade 9 student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. The two students, along with their teenage friends, organized a rally driven by sympathy to stand by the victim and let him know he wasn’t alone. They took a stand against the harassment of the Grade 9 boy when they distributed pink shirts out to every boy in the school. They bought over 50 discounted pink shirts and hauled them to the school the next morning, and when the Grade 9 student walked in and saw everyone wearing pink, the look on his face said it all.
Since that event, the inciting school and millions around the globe have turned Pink Day into a celebration of our differences, and a reminder to show support for those that experience bullying. So on February 28th, join Canadore and show your support for your fellow peers and anyone that has experienced bullying of any kind and wear a pink shirt! Be part of the movement that inspired a nation of change.
