External organizations also provide assistance to our students. Students are encouraged to apply for these external awards, scholarships and/or bursaries. Application procedures and deadlines are specific to each one of these awards, so please confirm these details prior to applying.

Ad Standards Scholarship

Ad Standards offers two $1,500.00 scholarships annually to full-time post-secondary students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and who are enrolled in an undergraduate Advertising or Marketing program at a Canadian university or college. One award is open to students attending a primarily English post-secondary institution and one is open to students attending a primarily French post-secondary institution. Successful applicants display a record of academic excellence, a commitment to volunteerism, and a genuine interest in pursuing a career in advertising or marketing. Please note that each institution can submit only one application per year. Interested applicants should contact their Program Chair/Coordinator before beginning the application process, to ensure that their institution has not already submitted an application.

WowAutos- a fast growing Automotive marketplace for buying, selling and leasing used and new automobiles- is pleased to offer a scholarship for students in the fields of engineering, computer science, business, accounting and marketing.
This scholarship will pay $500 per year.

Chaney-Ensign Bursary Fund

The Chaney-Ensign Bursary Fund provides educational bursaries to students who demonstrate serious financial need and who have completed their high school requirements in publicly-funded secondary schools located in the City of Hamilton. Students must be in attendance at an approved college or university in Canada or, for specialized programs, in the United States. If warranted by continuing need and satisfactory progress, the award may be repeated in subsequent years. This bursary fund is generally intended to assist students enrolled in full-time undergraduate studies, although part-time or postgraduate studies may be considered.

Provides bursaries to students who can demonstrate financial need, and who are enrolled in a music program at a college, university or institution in Canada, the United States or abroad. Undergrad and postgrad students are eligible.

Indspire Awards

Indspire disburses bursaries and scholarships through its Building Brighter Futures program to Indigenous students who are enrolled in post-secondary programs. Since 1985, Indspire has disbursed bursaries and scholarships to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis post-secondary students. It is the largest funder for Indigenous education outside of the federal government.

National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) Financial Aid Portal

The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is pleased to announce the availability of its new financial aid portal for students with disabilities: www.DisabilityAwards.ca.

With the support of the Canada Student Loan Program and the Office for Disability Issues, NEADS has developed a site containing over 300 scholarships, awards and bursaries specifically for post-secondary students with disabilities.

Parts Canada Trans Can Entrance Awards

Awarded to a student entering Canadore College in his or her first year of a Skilled Trades program, who participated in or attended that year’s Parts Canada Trans Can at Walton Raceway. Value $1,000.00

Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Command Bursary Assistance Program - $500

This bursary program is designed to assist students entering or pursuing their postsecondary education, including courses and programs of a technical and vocational nature, outside of and beyond secondary school. Approved bursary assistance is not based upon scholastic standing but rather on the successful admission status to a postsecondary institution or successful completion of one or more years leading to a recognized degree, diploma or certificate.
Application forms are available from the Canadore College Financial Aid Office.

Note: This opens in September of each year and closes on the last Friday of March.

Stantec / McIntosh Scholarships 3 year technical program 

The CIM Foundation is offering three scholarships to outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in a 3 year technical program in the field of mining engineering in Canada with a special emphasis on underground mining. Recipients are selected on the basis of eligibility and must be enrolled full time in their second year of a three year program  of an eligible undergraduate program.   These students can then apply for additional support in their 3rd year of study, for a value of $5,000 providing they meet the four requirements listed in the Scholarships Structure on the application form.

Taking Flight Scholarship

The Taking Flight Scholarship was established in 2009 to encourage Aboriginal high school and post-secondary students wishing to pursue a career in mining. Two (or more) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually to qualifying students from across Canada.
