External organizations also provide assistance to our students. Students are encouraged to apply for these external awards, scholarships and/or bursaries. Application procedures and deadlines are specific to each one of these awards, so please confirm these details prior to applying.

2018 Anishinabek Student Excellence Awards/Scholarships

Four scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each will be awarded to Anishinabek First Nation students at the post-secondary level for academic excellence.

Chaney-Ensign Bursary Fund

The Chaney-Ensign Bursary Fund provides educational bursaries to students who demonstrate serious financial need and who have completed their high school requirements in publicly-funded secondary schools located in the City of Hamilton. Students must be in attendance at an approved college or university in Canada or, for specialized programs, in the United States. If warranted by continuing need and satisfactory progress, the award may be repeated in subsequent years. This bursary fund is generally intended to assist students enrolled in full-time undergraduate studies, although part-time or postgraduate studies may be considered.

CLWD Educational Bursary 

Community Living Walkerton and District is again pleased to offer a bursary for students who are enrolled in full time post secondary education, at any level of their studies (example, first year, second or subsequent terms). As you will note, this is meant for those whose home base is in Grey or Bruce Counties in Ontario.  The intention is to encourage all to engage in efforts to help make our communities inclusive of all citizens.

Indspire Awards

Indspire disburses bursaries and scholarships through its Building Brighter Futures program to Indigenous students who are enrolled in post-secondary programs. Since 1985, Indspire has disbursed bursaries and scholarships to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis post-secondary students. It is the largest funder for Indigenous education outside of the federal government.

National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) Financial Aid Portal

The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is pleased to announce the availability of its new financial aid portal for students with disabilities: www.DisabilityAwards.ca.

With the support of the Canada Student Loan Program and the Office for Disability Issues, NEADS has developed a site containing over 300 scholarships, awards and bursaries specifically for post-secondary students with disabilities.

Ontario Chapter of The Wildlife Society - 2018 Student Travel Award Application

The Ontario Chapter executive committee is happy to announce the 2018 Student Travel Award. Up to three awards of $150 will be granted to a member(s) of the Ontario Chapter to help offset the costs of traveling to any wildlife related conference in 2018.

To be eligible for this grant please submit your application by June 1st 2018 and make sure you are a member of the Ontario Chapter. Not a member of the Ontario Chapter? It’s not too late! Join today by completing the Membership Renewal/ Application Form.

Applications for the 2018 Student Travel Award are due June 1st 2018. Students who have already attended a conference in 2018 may still apply but must provide proof of attendance.

ORBA 2018 Civil Engineering Scholarship

For students entering their first year in a Civil Engineering program in Ontario. ORBA scholarships are presented annually to two high school and two post-secondary students who are enrolled in a civil engineering program at an Ontario university or a civil technology or technician program at an Ontario college. The recipients are recognized at ORBA’s annual Convention.

Parts Canada Trans Can Entrance Awards

Awarded to a student entering Canadore College in his or her first year of a Skilled Trades program, who participated in or attended that year’s Parts Canada Trans Can at Walton Raceway. Value $1,000.00

Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Command Bursary Assistance Program - $500

This bursary program is designed to assist students entering or pursuing their postsecondary education, including courses and programs of a technical and vocational nature, outside of and beyond secondary school. Approved bursary assistance is not based upon scholastic standing but rather on the successful admission status to a postsecondary institution or successful completion of one or more years leading to a recognized degree, diploma or certificate.
Application forms are available from the Canadore College Financial Aid Office.

Note: This opens in September of each year and closes on the last Friday of March.

The Synergize Scholarship Fund

The Synergize Scholarship Fund is an annual scholarship granted to students attending a Canadian post-secondary educational institution. The scholarship is a $1000 award granted to the applicant who best exemplifies Microdea's Core Values in their community.
