Canadore College to Host Open House Saturday

(NORTH BAY, ONT.) -- Tomorrow, Canadore College’s doors will be wide open to welcome hundreds of guests ranging from prospective students, family members and the community at large.
Everyone is welcome to come and explore Canadore’s three North Bay campuses, including the Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Production (ICAMP) at Commerce Court. Visitors will have the chance to meet current students and professors, tour classrooms and labs, visit residence complexes, speak with student success learning advisors and admissions staff, and much more.
“There are many great, well-paying jobs available to Canadore graduates,” said Shawn Chorney, vice-president of enrolment management, indigenous and student services. “Our student success rates and millions of dollars worth of investment in our facilities, labs and classrooms, ensure that our graduates are job ready and competitive.”
Canadore has recently invested hundred of thousands of dollars in renewing their facilities, including retrofitting its motive power lab and civil and mechanical engineering technology lab. It also announced the construction of The Village, a community health and wellness centre, and a post-production studio. The Canadore College Board of Governors also approved 11 new programs beginning as soon as September 2017.
High school students from across the province will be competing in the northern area Skills Canada - Ontario Qualifying Competition. Fourteen different school boards will be competing in culinary arts and TV video production challenges at the College Drive Campus, and in carpentry and welding contest.
